The acronym FUE stands for Follicular Unit Extraction, it is a hair transplant technique which directly remove follicular units. In fact, it provides a direct extraction of the follicular units from a donor area – the part of the head where the hair is thicker, (usually the nape, or the sides of the head) – and the implantation of the aforementioned grafts in the recipient area, i.e. the area affected by baldness.
In simple terms, FUE hair transplants consist of removing hair bulbs individually from the nape of the scalp by means of a special precision medical device called a Micromotor, or manually through the use of a circular micro scalpel. Once extracted, the follicular units are then left to rest in a biotin-based nutrient solution and then implanted in the patient’s receiving area (the hairless area).

After the extraction phase, the surgeon starts to open channels in the receiving area with a special scalpel. The appearance and direction of growth of future hair will depend on this phase; for this reason, the position of the channels is discussed with the client during the pre-operative consultation. At this point the follicular units are grafted manually with special tweezers (micro-FUE technique), a delicate job that requires precision and a well-prepared medical team with many years of experience.

The extracted follicular units are stored in liquid-rich nutrients, including Biotin. Thanks to this process the hair is regenerated before proceeding with the implant.
